Updated Nov 2015:
Infectolab Vet (Germany) For Pet Owners
As a specialised laboratory for tick-borne diseases, we offer fast and
reliable tests for ticks.
We offer four different tests (PCR), including:
3. Babesia (important for dogs)
Total Cost: 116,81 EUR excl. 19% VAT
(= incl. VAT 139,00 EUR)
Dead ticks can also be tested. Just stick the tick (or the parts of the tick that
you have) to a piece of adhesive tape and attach the tape to a piece of
paper. Put the paper with the attached tick in an envelope and send it to us
with the laboratory order form signed and completely filled in.
The written report will be ready within 10 working days (will not released until the prepayment is registered.)
We only offer the combined analysis (four tests). In our experience, testing for just Lyme disease on its own is not sufficient. The risk of co-infections has increased and this is important so as to decide on a prophylaxis (medical prevention) in case of a positive result.
For an order form go to: http://www.infectolab-vet.de/?lang=en#14
NB: this lab also does Elispot testing for Lyme infections in horses & dogs
IDEXX Labs Dublin – this lab can send ticks or small animal blood to UK, requires vet submission. They can test animals by C6 antibody test or ticks by PCR tick panel.http://www.idexx.co.uk/pdf/en_gb/smallanimal/reference-laboratories/diagnostic-updates/vector-borne-disease-panels.pdf
We have word that your Local Vet can send Tick Samples to UCD (Univ College Dublin), but they have to ring first (01) 7166161. These will also be sent forward to UK for testing.

Lyme Borreliose Test from Care Plus (UK)
This self diagnosis test is used on a tick that has bitten you and will indicate the presence of Borrelia bacteria which could lead to infection with Lyme Disease which in some cases can prove to be extremely debilitating.
The rapid Lyme bacteria Tick-Test is a lateral flow test – a simple diagnostic tool to detect the presence or absence of this bacteria. It works much in the same way as a home pregnancy test. First place the tick in the test tube, crush the tick with the wooden stick, add a drop or two of the liquid provided with the pipette, and place on the test cassette After just 20 minutes the test indicates if the tick has tested positive or negative. If 2 red lines show on the cassette the tick is infected with Borrelia.

Clongen Labs (USA)
Tick Testing for Lyme’s Disease by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
This amplification assay of total tick DNA simultaneously detects theLy1 Chromosomal gene and Outer Surface Protein A genes in Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent for Lyme’s Disease. Both dog ticks and deer ticks tend to carry the bacteria in their digestive system.
Instructions for shipping live or dead ticks:
If the tick is alive, please make sure that you use two zip lock bags or a solid container with a tight seal to prevent loosing the tick in transit. It is highly recommended to wear gloves when removing the tick from the skin to avoid infection by infected ticks.
Do not use tape to immobilize the tick or ticks you captured.
Do not use formalin to preserve captured ticks as it will have a negative impact on PCR test results.
Fill out the tick testing sample submission form. Include the patient’s name, address, phone number as well as e-mail address and if you wish your physicians name and contact information if you would like a copy of the report faxed to your doctor. We will send you the final report in PDF format and you will receive a hard copy of the report along with a receipt.
Include a $75 (USD) check with the tick or an authorized credit card form.
Analytical Services Inc (USA)
Please note that tick testing for the bacterium responsible for Lyme Disease is a screen and will not definitively rule out or confirm the presence of B. burgdorferi. It is intended to provide important information for you and your physician to determine, when combined with other information, the risk of exposure to Lyme Disease and any subsequent clinical follow-up and treatment. ASI does not perform clinical (blood or tissue) testing for the presence of Lyme Disease in humans or animals.
